The Foundation and SEDS are proud to announce the Student NewSpace Business Plan Competition. Specifically designed to give students a chance to enter the world of space entrepreneurship, this competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students with an idea for a frontier-enabling business. Competitors will pitch their space industry or space-scalable business proposal to a panel of investors and NewSpace leaders, and vie for the $1000 grand prize. To enter the competition, submit an Intent to Compete form by September 30, 2011.

Silicon Valley, CA – Five deserving finalists have been selected to present their business plans to the judges of the NewSpace Business Plan Competition. These startups range from innovative hardware design to space food for nerds but all are aimed at filling a niche in the commercial space industry. Attendees of the NewSpace 2011 Conference can watch the final presentations on July 29, 9 AM PST, at the NASA Ames Research Center. The winner will be presented with the $25,000 prize during that NewSpace Awards Gala on July 30. The runner up will be awarded $5,000 and third place will receive $2,500.
