Biography:
Brook E. Mantia has been a dedicated space activist since joining the L5 Society (now the National Space Society) in 1979, and is president of the Golden Gate Space Frontier Society, the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of NSS. Brook is also active with the Space Frontier Foundation, contributing to many projects and events, including the Space Enterprise Project, Return to the Moon Symposiums and annual Space Frontier Conferences. She has been the Foundation’s corporate secretary for the last 3 years and received the Space Frontier Service Award in 2002. She has written a space tourism column for TheArgonauts.com, and a column for the SpaceFaring Gazette called True Rumors. She lives for the day when the space frontier is open to all people and plans to visit the Moon and Mars as a tourist someday.
We are transforming space from a government- owned bureaucratic program into a dynamic and inclusive frontier open to people. We are determined to convert the image held by many young people that the future will be worse than the present, and we reject the idea that the world's greatest moments are in its past.
