Washington, DC – The executive council for Yuri’s Night, The World Space Party, is pleased to announce the launch of a new fund-raising campaign at SpaceRaffle.net, the world’s first long term raffle campaign supporting a space cause.
Starting with a raffle of up to $500 in travel/accommodation funds for the winner to attend any U.S. based Yuri’s Night celebration, the Space Raffle aims to grow substantially over the next several years.
The Space Raffle will initiate raffling Zero Gravity flights of the same type as NASA uses for microgravity experiments and the training of astronauts.
Raffle Campaign Director Rocky Persaud says, “The long term goal is to support as many Yuri’s Night parties around the world as we can, and eventually to host the world’s first Zero Gravity Football tournament – with raffle winners in teams competing on behalf of their favorite space cause.”
“For the first raffle it is crucial we reach our target of 1000 tickets sold,” said Persaud, who is also president of IPX Entertainment, the inventor of Zero G Football. “We will not offer the Zero G prizes until we meet that minimum target. The campaign depends on reaching financial goals at every stage, enabling additional raffles and expand our campaign war chest, realizing the Zero G Football tournament in just a few years. All ticket purchasers and sponsors at this early stage will helping us reach those goals.”
“The Space Raffle graciously accepted a generous donation of several prizes from Apogee Books – The Space Book Company – that we plan to give away as additional prizes, including one as an early bird prize to one of the first 100 ticket holders. Our first sponsor, Apogee, will be given a place of honor on SpaceRaffle.net.”
“We have also accepted a donation from former Space Frontier Foundaiton Executive Director, space consultant and author Jeff Krukin – a copy of his book, NewSpace Nation: America’s Emerging Entrepreneurial Space Industry, as an additional prize we plan to give away.”
