The Space Frontier Foundation’s Annual Event Helps to Fulfill the Promise of Commercial Space
Silicon Valley, CA – The Space Frontier Foundation’s (SFF) premier event, the NewSpace 2011 Conference, will be held July 28-31, 2011 at the NASA Ames Conference Center. With the exciting new developments in the commercial space industry, this opportunity to network and strategize with fellow NewSpace leaders is not to be missed. To reflect this auspicious time, the SFF has chosen Fulfilling the Promise as this year’s conference theme. New partnership opportunities, increased governmental support, and successful feats of engineering have opened up many new roads to space. The conference panels will center on how to achieve the future we’ve been working towards. Visit the conference website to find the latest conference updates.
The opening day of the conference will address the current state of the commercial space industry. The agenda will focus on the Here and Now of NewSpace and attendees will learn about the latest developments. Questions and discussion about what these developments mean for their projects will be encouraged. Thursday will also include a roundtable discussion between NASA and NewSpace.
Once the state of the industry is unraveled, Friday’s programming will present The Business of NewSpace. In the morning, the finalists in the Business Plan Competition will present their case to the discerning eyes of titans of industry and angel investors. Following that, young entrepreneurs and established businessmen will learn to avoid the pitfalls of space ventures during a panel led by seasoned veterans. Friday will close with think tank sessions on various topics so attendees can address the issues most pertinent to them in an intimate setting, followed by the group facilitators summarizing the best ideas and solutions.
Saturday’s agenda is a favorite of those with aspirations to change the face of space flight and settlement. The futuristic technology to be presented may seem like science fiction but the concepts are swiftly becoming within our grasp. The cutting edge space scientists of today will reveal their advanced projects in propulsion, habitats, bioastronautics, and more. The scope of these panels is guaranteed to be awe-inspiring.
Finally, Sunday will be set aside for those that wish to play a closer role in supporting the SFF’s activities. You will have the opportunity to suggest and select the projects on which SFF should focus, and help craft the agenda for NewSpace 2012. It is a chance to express what you want to see happen in NewSpace over the next year and find out what you can do to make it happen.
