Lori Garver, NASA
As deputy administrator, Ms. Garver is NASA’s second in command and works closely with the administrator to provide overall leadership, planning, and policy direction for the agency. Her views impact decisions in Congress and she will provide the opening keynote speech NewSpace 2011, continuing her proud history of supporting commercial space efforts.
Clayton Mowry, ArianeSpace Inc.
Mr. Mowry is President and Chairman of Washington, D.C.-based Arianespace, Inc. He will discuss his 18 years of experience providing launch services internationally during the International Space Frontier keynote. At Arianespace’s U.S. base, he is responsible for managing the company’s sales, marketing, strategy, government relations and corporate communications activities.
George Nield, FAA-AST
Mr. Nield serves as the Associate Administrator for Commercial Space Transportation at the FAA and will be the featured speaker during the Potential in Government/Commercial Partnership luncheon. He has over 30 years of aerospace experience with the Air Force, at NASA, and in private industry.
Mark Sirangelo, Sierra Nevada Space Systems
Mr. Sirangelo is the Chairman of Sierra Nevada Space Systems, which is developing the Dream Chaser spaceplane, and the Executive Vice President of Sierra Nevada Corporation, a billion dollar aerospace and defense firm. He will give his take on Orbital Spaceflight and Beyond and his keynote will close Thursday’s events.
George Whitesides, Virgin Galactic
Mr. Whitesides is the CEO of Virgin Galactic, which developed the well-known WhiteKnightTwo and SpaceShipTwo with Scaled Composites. As CEO, Whitesides is responsible for all aspects of the business, guiding VG to commercial operations at Spaceport America in New Mexico. He will open Friday’s events with a keynote on the exploration of new markets and VG’s next steps.
