NASA has extended the Commercial Crew Development round 2 contract with Blue Origin to provide technical expertise to the rising space company while not supplying financial resources. The CCDev2 program, in coordination with the Foundation’s vision, aimed to provide the incentives for private companies to develop the necessary capabilities to assume technological roles and services NASA provided in previous years. It is public-private partnership such as this that we believe will serve as a model for human space activity that will enable the settlement of tomorrow.
NASA is searching for 5 “capability leaders” to monitor the efficiency and make adjustments as needed to 10 regional field centers. Associate Administrator Robert Lightfoot commented that this could result in the closing/moving of some NASA facilities.
