TEDxMidTownNY Event to Pierce the Veil of Jupiter

The next installment of the popular TEDxMidTownNY speaker series will take place on Tuesday, May 9th, 2011 from 6-9 pm at the Hotel Beacon in New York City. With the theme “Piercing the Veil,” the focus of the event is to peel back the clouds of Jupiter and discuss the science we find, as well as the important role that art plays in our discovery of the physical universe. Cosponsored by the Space Frontier Foundation (SFF) and NASA, this event will host speakers Scott Bolden, Chief Scientist for NASA’s upcoming Juno Mission, and photographer, writer, and filmmaker Michael Benson. Two inspiring TEDx videos featuring XCOR CEO Jeff Greason and author Amil Ananthaswamy will also be screened. Tickets are limited and can be purchased at Brownpaperticket.com.

The Space Frontier Foundation and SEDS Provide Free Copies of The High Frontier to Schools

The book that is the cornerstone of the Space Frontier Foundation philosophy is being gifted to schools at no cost by the Foundation and the Students for the Exploration of Space. The High Frontier Distribution Project aims to provide a copy of The High Frontier: Human Colonies in Space by Dr. Gerard K. O’Neill to all high school and university libraries that currently don’t have a copy. In distributing it to schools, it is hoped that today’s youth will be inspired to become aerospace engineers and scientists and realize the better future in space described.
