Space Frontier Foundation Code of Conduct
The Space Frontier Foundation (SFF) is dedicated to fostering a safe and inclusive environment where ideas flow freely, built on mutual respect. Diversity and inclusion provides SFF and the space industry with a vast set of perspectives and ideas to advance the industry forward. The SFF Board of Directors (DIrectors) hereby adopts and ratifies this Code of Conduct below for Delegates.
Delegates at SFF conferences, events, and activities include, but are not limited to, registrants, panelists, speakers, volunteers, and venue staff. Delegates are on notice that registration to conferences, events, and activities hosted by SFF is subject to a revocable license and may be withdrawn and admission refused upon the terms set forth below. A Delegate agrees to all terms hereof. By registering for a SFF hosted conference, event, or activity and entering the conference venue and any venues, events, or activities associated, affiliated, organized, hosted, or otherwise in cooperation with other entities, the Delegate agrees to be bound by all the terms of this license including the Code of Conduct.
Delegates to any SFF conference, event, or activity are responsible for maintaining a safe and inclusive environment of mutual respect regardless of an individual’s gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, family status, race, ethnicity, color, disability, or socio-economic status. Each Delegate has a right to respect and to human dignity from other Delegates.
No harassment of any kind towards any Delegate will be tolerated during SFF conferences, events, or activities. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, offensive verbal comments related to age, religion, family status, race, ethnicity, color, gender, sexual orientation, and disability; deliberate intimidation; harassing photography, recording, or postings; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact; and unwelcome sexual attention.
If a Delegate engages in harassing behavior, event organizers and SFF Directors retain the right to take any actions to maintain a welcoming, safe environment for all Delegates. These actions include, but are not limited to, warning the Delegate of a Code of Conduct violation, revocation of the license with no refund, and suspending the Delegate from participating in any SFF conferences, events, or activities for one (1) year.
If a Delegate is expelled from an SFF conference, event, or activity for harassment, they enter a one-year suspension period from all SFF conferences, events, and activities beginning on the day the Delegate received an email that provides notice of license revocation and suspension of future licenses. This period lapses automatically with no requirement on SFF to inform the Delegate that suspension has been lifted.
The suspended Delegate has the right to appeal to the SFF Directors to seek a remedy. If a remedy is sought and appropriate, a committee of three SFF board members will address the appeal and make a final decision. The committee will then inform all Directors and appropriate staff and volunteers regarding a final decision.
If a refund is requested by a Delegate who has violated the Code of Conduct, the SFF Directors shall retain the right to refuse a refund, refund, or credit the total amount of registration at their discretion.
If you are being harassed, notice someone else is a victim of harassment or have any other concerns, please contact newspace19@spacefrontier.org.
This policy may be amended by SFF Directors without notice.
Approved by SFF Directors April 2019.
